Welcome to the School R.E.A.D.Y Lab!

Welcome to the School R.E.A.D.Y Lab at Florida International University’s Center for Children and Families! Under the direction of Katie C. Hart, Ph.D., the School R.E.A.D.Y (Readiness Interventions to Improve Early Academic and Disruptive Behaviors in Young Children) Lab is dedicated to the development, evaluation, and dissemination of early behavioral and academic interventions and treatments across home, school, clinic, and community settings designed to promote school readiness.

If you would like to hear our director talk about the importance of school readiness at our Center’s flagship conference, please click here

We love what we do! We love our community partners, the families we serve, our students, trainees, and staff, research collaborators, and FIU. Thank you to our funders (Administration for Children and Families, Institute of Education Sciences, The Children’s Trust, Children’s Services Council of Broward County) for supporting our work and innovation.

We have many opportunities available for students and trainees at all levels to become involved in our work. Please visit our Programs and Students tabs to learn more.

We hope you enjoy visiting our website! Please visit again, reach out to us (readylab@fiu.edu), and follow us on social media

KidVision-PreK’s Miss Penny came to visit Dr. Hart at the FIU Center for Children and Families to learn about what kids and their caregivers can expect in working with a Child Therapist. The segment features children learning about emotions, coping skills, and social skills–all elements of FIU Summer Academy, our Summer Treatment Program for preschoolers!

Our lab is grateful to PBSKids, KidVision-PreK, and Miss Penny for the opportunity to share about our work at the Center and to spread the word about important and fun ways to practice social-emotional and positive mental health skills.
